REFERENCE
    Check the following example:
We arrived early to the city and we went to our favourite café, but it was shut. I was hungry, so I bought some crisps. We sat in the park because it was sunny.
    We use:
  • AND to link sentences that describe similar actions or situations. We do not have to repeat the subject of the first sentence after and:
We went to town and (we) met Ross.
  • BUT to link sentences that describe different actions or situations:
I asked him, but he didn't answer.
  • OR to link sentences that describe two possible actions or situations:
We can wait here or we can go to the cafeteria.
  • BECAUSE to say that something was the reason for an action or situation. We can start a sentence with because.
We left early because Ben was tired.
Because Ben was tired, we left early.
  • SO to say that something happened as a result (consequence) of an action or situation.
I was hungry, so I bought some crisps.
